Perhaps I am witnessing the birth of a monster that will never be seen again in martial arts history.—Baek Sa Ha
Baek Sa-ha ranks among the Five Kings, the highest-ranking executives within the Heaven-Earth Society.
Appearance[]
Personality[]
Baek Sa-ha is an eccentric and sharp-tongued elder, known for his blunt honesty and stubborn personality old man who is always keeping his word. He is also one of the most important characters who influenced Mok Gyeongwoon's character change after the Munno and the Blue Spirit.
“I apologize. Because of me, even you, Master, have been put in a difficult position.”—Mok Gyeongwoon, to Baek Sa Ha
“Difficult? Yes. If it’s difficult, then it’s difficult. But what can we do about what has already occurred? I will never abandon my own.”—Baek Sa Ha, to Mok Gyeongwoon
‘Not abandoning his own…’ Contrary to appearances, Baek Sa-ha seemed to place great importance on loyalty. Did he consider Mok Gyeong-un, whom he had taken as a disciple, as his own as well?—Mok Gyeongwoon inner thoughts
By siding with his newly accepted disciple, Mok Gyeong-un and making an enemy of the First Society Leader’s disciple, Na Yul-ryang, who at the time held the best chance of seizing power, Baek Sa-ha unknowingly planted the first seed of trust in Mok Gyeong-un’s heart.
It was a fragile thing, that trust. But it was enough. Enough for Mok Gyeong-un to start assigning missions to his human allies, and for the first time, to do so without watching over their shoulders or using poison to control them.
Story[]
Seventeen years ago, Baek Sa-ha faced Ghost Blade in an unexpected battle. Despite his desperate efforts, he stood no chance against him. Yet, to his surprise, Ghost Blade spared his life. Already severely wounded, Ghost Blade chose to retreat. Before leaving, he revealed that his injuries had been inflicted by none other than the Medicine Immortal. Then, he handed Baek Sa-ha the Society Leader’s token and entrusted him with a cryptic message: “I was interrupted.”
After disappearing without a trace, Baek Sa-ha passed the token to the Society Leader, who gave only one command: “Speak nothing of what you saw.” Since then, rumors have spread - was the Ghost Blade secretly a member of the Heaven-Earth Society.
For some time, the battle between Baek Sa-ha and Ghost Blade became a hot topic. People praised the "Poison King," speculating about his extraordinary strength—after all, he was the only known member of the Heaven-Earth Society who had not only survived a fight against Ghost Blade but had even forced him to retreat. This only filled Baek Sa-ha with shame, and he refused to speak of it with anyone. He knew the truth: it was not his skill that had spared him, but his enemy’s mercy.
Martial Arts[]
Baek Sa-Ha is a widely recognized and respected master of the Heaven-Earth Society. He is considered one of the strongest among the Five Kings, surpassed only by Gyu Jong-sin and Ho Tae-gang, two of the renowned Eight Stars.
His profound mastery of poisons has earned him a reputation as one of the three most formidable poison masters on the Central Plains. Yet, even in this field, he was regarded as inferior to the other two. It was widely known that he had not yet reached the Poison Master Realm, the highest echelon in the world of toxic arts, where the user's very body becomes poison itself.
With Mok Gyeong-un's assistance, he not only achieved the coveted Poison Master Realm, becoming an absolute master of the toxic arts, but also broke through his limits to reach the Transformation Realm. This breakthrough ended his long period of martial stagnation, and within a short time, he ascended to the level of the Eight Stars, establishing himself as one of the most powerful warriors in the entire organization.
A testament to his newfound power is his subsequent appointment as the Second Elder of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult, among the elders a position second only to the renowned Ou Cheon-mu himself.
Techniques[]
The Wave Demon Poison Technique is the Baek family’s most fearsome poison art, created by the legendary Baek Yu. Known as one of the top three poison arts in the Central Plains, it earned the nickname “Ten Steps to Death”, after once struck, a victim rarely survives long enough to take even ten steps.
Its core, the Wave Demon Poison Scripture, is a transcendent-level technique passed down only to those of the main bloodline, reserved for potential clan heads. The poison is so deadly and complex that only elite families like the Sichuan Tang Clan or the Guyang Clan are known to possibly detoxify it.
Trivia[]
- On the third timeline, his main clan and linage were wiped out by Cheon Yeo Woon. Only his side branch of family from the medical hall survived.
