Ja Geum-jeong, also known as the Demon-Subduing Fist Warrior, he is a former Shaolin monk and one of the infamous Three Madmen of the Central Plains.
Appearance[]
Ja Geum-jeong is a heavily muscled, stocky man with a nearly bald head and short stubble-like hair. Around his neck hangs a string of prayer beads interwoven with broken eggshells—an odd and striking accessory. Though he wears a monk’s attire, his wild aura and rough demeanor clash with the image of a traditional monk. At just 26 years old, he already carries the fierce presence of a battle-hardened warrior.
Personality[]
Ja Geum-jeong is a wild, blunt, and eccentric monk whose unorthodox behavior has earned him the title of one of the Three Madmen of the Central Plains. He’s rough around the edges—fond of alcohol, outspoken, and often unpredictable—but these traits hide a surprisingly honest and loyal nature.
Though his appearance and habits make him seem unstable, those who truly get to know him come to see that he’s not insane—just fiercely genuine and straightforward, unafraid to speak his mind or act according to his beliefs.
Background[]
Ja Geum-jeong, once known by his Dharma name Deok-mun, was a prodigious monk raised in Shaolin after losing his parents to famine and bandits. Personally trained by Grand Monk Gong-jeon, he was once considered a candidate for the Ten Precepts Monk due to his exceptional martial talent and kind heart.
However, he was repeatedly denied the title because of his "cursed eyes" he could see spirits and suffered greatly from it. Instead of overcoming this torment through ascetic practice, he turned to alcohol, which led to his eventual expulsion from Shaolin. Unlike others expelled, he retained his martial arts, stirring controversy in the martial world.
Despite being labeled a madman and one of the "Three Madmen of the Central Plains," Ja Geum-jeong created his own martial art the Demon-Subduing Attacking Fist based on Shaolin techniques.
He was later saved and understood by Monk Imun-hae, who used talismans to calm the spirits that haunted him, earning Ja Geum-jeong's loyalty.
Chronology[]
Ja Geum-jeong met Mok Gyeong-un while trying to exorcise a vengeful spirit that had possessed his close friend, Monk Imun-hae, and cursed woo family daughter. During a heavy storm, Mok was looking to borrow a boat to cross the river when he got involved.
The situation was dire—not only was the high rank blue spirit Ha-yoon, but many other vengeful spirits had gathered in the area. Ja Geum-jeong struggled to handle it alone, but with Mok’s help, they successfully saved Imun-hae and his daughter.
In return for his help, Mok Gyeong-un asked Ja Geum-jeong to swear loyalty to him, Ja Geum-jeong accepted—and from that moment on, he became Mok Gyeong-un’s subordinate.
Martial Realm[]
Technique[]
The Demon Subduing Attacking Fist is a powerful martial technique created by the exiled monk Ja Geum-jeong after his expulsion from Shaolin. Though he claims it as his own creation, the technique bears a striking resemblance to the Shaolin Demon Subduing Fist, one of the five fist arts derived from the ancient and revered Divine White Technique.
Known for its fierce, aggressive strikes combined with a flowing elegance, the original Shaolin version is a renowned offensive martial art. Ja Geum-jeong’s adaptation, however, is infused with his own wild, unorthodox style and rumored to be powered by Unsurpassed Power—a legendary cultivation method believed to manipulate external energy directly, without relying on inner reserves.
Trivia[]
- He had never told anyone his age since leaving Shaolin.
- It seems that the descendants of Lee Ji-yeom later took over the position of Left Guardian, so it seems that the descendants of Ja Geum-Yeong lost that position at some point.
