Early Life[]
Rebirth[]
Born as a human boy named Jeong (正), he was raised in the mountains by his grandfather, Medicine Immortal/Haeyeong Yakseon Munno. From a young age, Munno repeatedly warned him to conceal his true nature, his evil nature, from the world.
Living a secluded life, Jeong and his grandfather survived by foraging and selling herbs, maintaining a simple existence away from society.
Introduction Arc[]
One fateful day, Jeong returned home from foraging only to discover his grandfather, Haeyeong Yakseon Munno, brutally cut in half. However, rather than mourning, he swore vengeance upon those responsible.
With Munno no longer there to suppress his dark nature, Jeong embarked on a bloody path of revenge, mercilessly hunting down his grandfather’s killers. His relentless slaughter earned him the infamous title, "Slaughtering Scythe Demon (鎌殺鬼)."
Despite his overwhelming strength, Jeong was eventually overpowered and gravely injured when he finally confronted the true culprits. Captured and sentenced to death, his reign of terror appeared to reach its end.
A New Identity: The Rise of Mok Gyeongwoon[]

While awaiting execution, Jeong received an unexpected visit from True Mok Gyeongwoon, the third young master of the Great Mok Sword Family. Strangely, Mok Gyeongwoon bore an uncanny resemblance to him. Accompanied by his personal guard, Guard Kam, Mok Gyeongwoon made Jeong an offer—freedom from his death sentence in exchange for becoming his body double. In return, Jeong would enjoy the luxuries of noble life, bound only by absolute loyalty, which would be enforced through a slow-acting poison administered to him.
However, the moment Mok Gyeongwoon and Guard Kam turned their backs, Jeong seized his opportunity. Declaring, "The fake is dead," he swiftly snapped Mok Gyeongwoon’s neck, killing him instantly.
Now assuming the identity of Mok Gyeongwoon, Jeong returned to Mok Sword Manor, where he was immediately confined to a room, kept isolated from the rest of the household. Trapped in his new identity, he was forced to navigate the treacherous world of Murim, all while secretly plotting his revenge against his grandfather’s killers and uncovering the deeper mysteries surrounding his past.
Great Mok Sword Family Arc[]
Locked in a Room[]
After successfully stealing Mok Gyeongwoon’s identity, Jeong was confined within the third young master’s quarters, unable to leave. At midnight, Guard Kam provided him with an antidote to counteract the slow-acting poison, reinforcing his role as a mere "puppet."
While in isolation, Jeong noticed a shift in Guard Kam’s allegiance and grew irritated with Go Chan, who was actively preventing him from leaving.
To create an opportunity, Jeong pretended to have a question for Go Chan, luring him into a false sense of security. Despite being ordered to remain inside, Jeong realized that Go Chan was weaker than Guard Kam and attempted to subdue him using an imitation of Guard Kam’s Meridian Arts. However, his technique was imperfect, making it difficult to fully suppress him.
When Jeong mentioned the poisonous medicine to manipulate Go Chan, the latter simply dismissed it, claiming he did not need it.
Demonic Monk[]
After gathering information about the Mok Sword Family from Go Chan, Jeong set out to meet the leader of the family. During this time, he was introduced to his supposed siblings:
- Mok Yeongho – The first son
- Mok Eunpyeong – The second son
- Mok Yoochun – The fourth son
On his way to meet the leader, Jeong witnessed Mok Yoochun practicing martial arts and inquired about it. Go Chan explained that it was a form of inner chi training. However, when Go Chan tried to act dismissively, Jeong intimidated him into compliance.
He also learned that the real third son had once been defeated by the youngest sibling, but was known to have a kind heart.
Jeong's First Familiar Spirit: Demonic Monk
Eventually, Jeong arrived at the leader’s residence, where he encountered Taoist Myoshin.
Upon arriving at the leader’s residence, Jeong greeted the Mok Sword Family’s leader. However, during their meeting, a monster attempted to escape, and Jeong followed Taoist Myoshin’s instructions to handle the situation.
Amidst the chaos, a serious incident occurred—the leader’s arm was severed. When the monster went on another rampage, it turned out to be a result of possession, orchestrated by Taoist Myoshin’s plan. The monster was consumed by vengeful spirits, but rather than being overwhelmed, Jeong subjugated them, turning them into familiar spirits.
This was when he learned of a particular spirit known as the Demonic Monk. Curious about its power, he killed Taoist Myoshin without hesitation.
To mislead Lady Seok, Jeong began destroying objects to create a false narrative. However, upon hearing Go Chan’s suggestion, he took things further by stabbing himself in the leg.
Shortly after, the Main Room Leader (내당주) entered and questioned the commotion. In response, Jeong collapsed to maintain his ruse.
Later, in the medicine hall, Jeong detected various medicinal scents, which triggered memories of an underground secret he had learned from the Demonic Monk-possessed leader. From Myoshin’s corpse, he also acquired two books on Taoist Magic but decided to examine them later due to the presence of others.
When Go Chan inquired about the books, Jeong simply pointed toward Demonic Monk, implying they were related to investigating vengeful spirits. Go Chan remained confused, but Jeong dismissed his concerns. Meanwhile, Lady Seok entered the medicine hall.
Upon seeing Lady Seok, Jeong greeted her, only to be struck by her—she had already realized Taoist Myoshin was dead. However, Jeong remained composed, summoning the Demonic Monk to inflict pain upon one of Lady Seok’s servants.
In return, he offered Lady Seok a deal, revealing information about a secret martial arts book and an official seal, suggesting that he could hand them over to his fourth brother, Mok Yoochun.
Realizing he was outwitting Lady Seok, Jeong grew curious as to why the Demonic Monk had no effect on her. That night, once the household had fallen asleep, he secretly examined the Class of Evil Spirits within the medicine hall.
Through his research, he discovered that the Demonic Monk was classified as a Yellow Spirit. Dissatisfied, he sought a stronger spirit and decided to explore the basement of the medicine hall.
Exploring the Basement of the Medicine Hall[]
Jeong, aware of the depth of the basement, quickly understood why others had been so eager to reach it. As he descended, he discovered four doors, each leading to different sections. Among them, he found the Jeong (丁) Stone Gate and chose to enter.
Overcoming the Traps[]
Inside, he encountered a series of deadly traps, ranging from falling rocks to flying arrows. However, with his superior physical abilities, he broke through them effortlessly. This made him wonder,
The Hidden Platform and the Sealed Box[]
After evading the traps, Jeong arrived at a symmetrical wooden building that bore traces of past training. There, he successfully obtained two secret martial books of the Mok Sword Family.
However, something felt off. A needlessly heavy platform stood in the room, showing clear signs of being dragged. Suspicious, he thought,
The Forbidden Book[]
He was right. After removing the heavy platform, he uncovered a small hidden door in the floor. Upon opening it, he found a wooden box sealed with a paper amulet.
The moment he tore off the amulet, an overwhelming energy surge extinguished the lamplight. However, Jeong remained unfazed and examined the contents of the wooden box.
Inside, he discovered a forbidden book—its pages made of human skin and sealed with a mysterious force.
Meeting with Blue Spirit[]
The Blue Spirit Appears.
As Jeong examined the forbidden book, he sensed a power close to death emanating from it. Suddenly, Demonic Monk appeared and bowed before him, trembling in fear. This reaction confirmed Jeong’s suspicion—something within the book held immense power.
His thoughts were interrupted when he realized that an intruder had broken in.
In order to unlock the prayer beads sealing the book, Jeong set a trap. Using a secret martial book as bait, he pretended to be asleep, successfully deceiving Jo Ilsang. The moment Jo Ilsang let his guard down, Jeong ambushed and subdued him.
With his captive secured, Jeong hung Jo Ilsang upside down and began interrogating him. When Jo Ilsang attempted to threaten him, Jeong pretended to let him go—only to cut off one of his fingers. Jo Ilsang, now alarmed, noticed a strange sensation. Jeong casually remarked that he had coated the blade with an anesthetic acid.
As the torture continued, Jo Ilsang lost all of his fingers except for his thumb. Desperate, he finally swore loyalty to Mok Gyeongwoon, claiming he would sacrifice his life for him. In response, Jeong slit his throat, stating that sheer strength alone could not break the seal on the book.
It was then revealed that the seal originated from the Original Book of the Yin-Yang School (음양가본서). To break it, Jeong used the blood of Jo Ilsang, whose unjust death served as a key.
The moment the prayer beads were released, a beautiful woman dressed in red emerged. The entire area turned blood-red, and upon inspecting her soul level, Jeong realized she was an Azure Ghost. Delighted, he thought to himself,
However, his excitement was short-lived. The sheer pressure from the woman forced him down. She then spoke, demanding that he empty his spirit (魂) and surrender his soul (魄). Amused, Jeong mocked her, stating that
"All ghosts, regardless of class, desire bodies."
Provoked, the woman attacked him using blood techniques, suggesting that he endure the attack until his flesh was torn away. As the battle intensified, both Jeong/Mok Gyeongwoon spoke…My desire is...
For you to shut up already and obediently become my familiar.
The enraged Azure Ghost launched a blood attack, causing Jeong’s body to be drenched in crimson. However, something felt off—he sensed no pain. Realizing it was an illusion, he shattered it instantly.
As he faced the now-revealed ghostly form of the woman, he grinned and pulled out the book made of bast. He theorized that old ghosts and monsters required a medium to manifest fully. To turn a ghost of her level into a familiar spirit, he began chewing pieces of the book’s human skin, an act that visibly tormented the Azure Ghost.
Within the illusion, a mysterious being on a throne ruthlessly stabbed the Azure Ghost’s heart, using a sword as a staff. The entity then ripped out her heart and crushed it, signaling the tragic end of her past life.
Upon breaking free from the illusion, the Azure Ghost was forcefully bound to Jeong as his familiar spirit. He smirked in satisfaction, pleased that he had acquired a powerful Azure-class ghost.
When the Azure Ghost tried to strangle him in anger, Jeong swiftly grabbed her by the neck in return, making her scream in frustration. This moment made him briefly wonder about the whereabouts of Demonic Monk.
Recognizing that they would be together from now on, Jeong introduced himself as Mok Gyeongwoon. Curious about the woman’s real name, he asked her directly—but when she refused to answer, he mockingly called her "Red Dung Beetle." Furious, she snapped at him, but he simply laughed.
As revenge, he also withheld his true name, opting instead to call her "Blue Spirit" after her Azure-class soul.
With his planned ritual complete, Jeong turned his attention to the book made of human skin. He questioned Blue Spirit about its contents, but she remained silent.
Upon opening it, he found that the pages were written in blood. While he couldn’t identify the writer, he thought to himself,
Realizing Blue Spirit wouldn’t reveal anything, he decided to figure it out on his own. As he turned a page, an unfamiliar energy gathered in his hands, and suddenly, the book stuck to him.
Startled, he asked, "What is Attachment (着)?"
His body began convulsing, something was going terribly wrong. Blue Spirit commanded him to stop breathing and clear his mind, which helped him regain control. When he asked her why this was happening, she smirked and said,
Blue Spirit explained that Attachment (着) was the refluxing of energy, forcibly pulling it inward. However, Jeong felt intense pain, his blood vessels tightening and his stomach twisting. Blue Spirit revealed that he was forcefully pulling energy from nothing, causing his chi to twist dangerously.
To correct this, she instructed him to place his hand on the navel of a nearby corpse, guiding him through the proper method of energy absorption.
As he began practicing Attachment in earnest, the chi quickly dissipated. When he asked why, Blue Spirit explained that chi naturally disperses and that he needed a chi breathing technique.
Since Jeong was unfamiliar with his own chi, she had him conjure a mental image of her and use that as a focus. Following her guidance, he manipulated his chi and directed it toward a pillar—only to obliterate it entirely, causing even the surrounding walls to collapse.
Realizing the true destructive potential of martial arts, he remarked,
Excited, Jeong eagerly asked what the second technique was, but Blue Spirit refused to tell him.
As he pondered the lingering cold sensation in his hands, he decided to set it aside for now, knowing that there was much more to uncover.
Creation of Energy Core[]
Returning to his room, Jeong ordered Go Chan to bring a brazier. Without hesitation, he burned one of the Mok Sword Family’s secret martial books in the fire. When Go Chan reacted in shock, Jeong simply tapped his forehead with a finger, stating,
Soon after, Guard Kam appeared—sent by Mok Eunpyeong to assassinate Jeong. Aware of the imminent danger, Jeong attempted to negotiate a deal, offering another secret martial book as leverage. However, this was merely a ruse.
As soon as Guard Kam pretended to accept, Jeong initiated the Thought-Shattering Eight Techniques – First Technique: Attachment, attempting to absorb Guard Kam’s Qi. However, the attempt failed, and Guard Kam swiftly countered with a powerful kick, sending Jeong crashing to the ground.
Realizing he needed another method to kill him, Jeong called upon Demonic Monk, stopping Guard Kam’s next attack. As Guard Kam accused him of using witchcraft, Jeong demonstrated its power firsthand, plunging a dagger into his body.
As Guard Kam bled out, he mockingly reminded Jeong,
"You need the antidote."
However, Jeong smirked and revealed the truth—his blood was already extremely poisonous. There was no need for an antidote.
Writhing in agony from the poison, Guard Kam begged for mercy—but Jeong remained indifferent. He killed him without hesitation and immediately began absorbing the death energy released from his body.
As he absorbed the death energy, Jeong began to form his Chi Core. However, during the process, numerous strange hands emerged from the Shuo, attempting to interfere. Before they could take hold, Blue Spirit intervened, dispelling them.
Suddenly, an invasion of bugs swarmed his room, controlled by an unknown Taoist force. Realizing this, Jeong attempted to pull the lantern towards him and burn them, but failed due to the Taoist’s control. Instead, he used his lethal, toxic blood to eradicate the insects.
Then, a Yokai charged toward him, accompanied by Blue Spirit. However, Jeong caught the creature using Attachment, forcing it into submission.
Realizing that the Yokai was a familiar spirit, much like Demonic Monk, Jeong decided to strike a deal with Shuo, the entity controlling it. As a result, he acquired another book related to Taoist Magic (方術).
With the energy absorbed from both Guard Kam and the Yokai, Jeong successfully formed his Chi Core, marking a major step forward in his cultivation.
Deal with Mok Yoochun[]
A few days later, the outer hall master, Sang Woongbaek, came to his room. While talking to Woongbaek, Sang Woongbaek noticed and almost subdued him, but he overcame it thanks to his unique body and gave orders to Blue Spirit to subdue Sang Woongbaek instead. Then, he gave orders to Demonic Monk to possess Sang Woongbaek to prevent his identity from spreading any further, and then went to meet the youngest, Mok Yoochun.
And when he saw him still looking at him with a bad expression, Jeong started to negotiate with the secret book he got from the family's basement. However, when he asked about the fact that some of the contents of the secret book were torn, Jeong acted as if it was in his head. When he saw that, his original ill feelings toward Mok Gyeongwoon came back to him even more and he ended up getting punched.
However, he saw the youngest who had reached the Peak Realm of his power and thought that he could become that strong if he learned martial arts, so he stood up again and started trying to make a deal. There were some problems along the way, but he succeeded. However, he changed two words of the secret books in his head and told them.
After that, he only looked at the martial arts movements in the secret book and performed them correctly without a single error except for the first time. After that, he was training to build muscles suitable for martial arts. After this, he told Go Chan to look for the symbol of the person who killed his adoptive grandfather.
That evening, Mok Gyeongwoon was reading a book called Six People Spiritual Evocation (六人降靈術). While talking to Blue Spirit and looking at a book, he feels Ha Cherin's energy and look at where she might be. And he actually goes and grabs one of Ha Cherin's daggers through Attachment (着) and asks Go Chan if it was a crisis.
Then, when Ha Chaerin took Go Chan hostage, he thought that he still had a lot of work to do with Go Chan and told her to let him go as it was a waste to lose him. But when Ha Chaerin said, "Kneel down and beg," he pretended to kneel and looked somewhere, then started attacking Ha Chaerin.
This was a signal to Blue Spirit and he attacked at the same time, but Ha Chaerin realized that he was not yet at his peak, and when she threw the secret technique of The Flying Killing Sect, Apex Needle of Death, he tried to catch it through the ritual of Attachment, but it was an object made to assassinate a skilled martial artists, so it did not work and he was in danger of dying, but he saw Go Chan sacrifice himself.
Eventually, he became enraged and succeeded in subduing Ha Chaerin, who was still shooting assassin needles at him through the Blue Spirit. Later, when he asks Go Chan why, the dying Go Chan says that he was only doing what he had to do as an escort, and then tells his will. After that, the spirit possessing Ha Chaerin's body comes and says that it is sad to see Go Chan dead, and that he still has no regrets, but Jeong mentions the Six Human Soul Summoning, and using the soul summoning and the Death Chi in his own Danjeon (Energy Core), he turns Go Chan's soul into the Familiar Spirit and puts it into Ha Chaerin's body that the Blue Spirit had left. And he explained to Go Chan, who unintentionally possessed Ha Chaerin's body, why this happened.

In the meantime, when Mok Yoochun came grumbling, he looked at her with a puzzled expression. But Mok Yoochun suddenly made a look as if telling her to be quiet and asked if she had tried that Cultivation technique, and she said she had. Then Mok Yoochun grabbed his head and said, "Why can't I?!" In the meantime, Blue Spirit said that an uninvited guest had come and that she would go for a moment, and Blue Spirit smiled when she noticed that she was from Ghastly Spirit Pavillion. Then, when Mok Yoochun asked her why he was smiling, he said it was nothing and went to meet Hallmaster Mok Indan while continuing the story they had told earlier.

Heaven-Earth Society Arc[]

Then Mok Indan said that it was a problem related to the successor and that he would take a test. However, Jeong, who was planning to get out of here, was not interested in the successor position and told Mok Indan that he was not good enough to take the position on his own. Then, Mok Indan showed his severed arm that had been attacked by a unknown person, and a familiar mark was seen on his waist.
Just when he thought he had finally found it, he felt someone barging into the Mok Sword Family, and Mok Indan felt the same. And then someone came running and told me that some guard had been attacked.
It was the attack of the Heaven-Earth Society.
After that, he pretended to fight against the invasion with Hallmaster and went to another place to think about the sign. While I was doing that, he saw the aura of death gathering, and in the midst of it, a soldier from Heaven-Earth Society attacked me from behind, but he stopped him and killed him right away. And seeing the chaos and the many deaths that followed in the Mok Sword Family, he wanted to absorb the energy coming from this place, but he was wondering what to do because the surroundings were dangerous. Then, when Go Chan, still in Ha Chaerin's body, came, he said it was a good time and told her to guard him while he start the Cultivation.
While doing the Cultivation through the Death Aura, Blue Spirit saw that the Familiar Spirit of the shaman had died and felt that some group had invaded.
After the Cultivation, Jeong felt that the Death Aura had faded and saw that the fight was over. And Jeong asked Gochan what the situation was, and he heard from Go Chan that Hallmaster had surrendered. And he heard that Heaven-Earth Society was an extremely dangerous group. Go Chan revealed that Heaven-Earth Society is different in size, and that the one holding the particularly large great sword is Son Yoon, the King of Brillance, one of the five pillars of Heaven-Earth Society, the 'Five Kings'.
And Son Yoon asked Hallmaster where the secret book made of human skin, which was the treasure of the group, was. Then, Jeong came to Mok Indan and asked where the scar-like mark came from, and Mok Indan said that he would answer later because of the situation, but Jeong said that this was a deal and that he would resolve the situation, and at the same time, he revealed that there was nothing in the basement of the pharmacy. And he frames Mrs. Seok and uses this as an excuse to threaten Hallmaster and find out who he got the mark from. That guy was the Phantom Sword.
Then, when Demonic Monk was threatened by Jo Euigong, he thought it was dangerous. Son Yoon thought about it carefully and thought that it was likely true, so he told her to recite the passage. And when Jeong tried to say some of the actual phrases, he felt the Blue Spirit's anger. And he also realized where the resentment was.
But this was a dilemma, and Jeong thought that he couldn't die until he finished his revenge on the person who killed his grandfather. Then Blue Spirit said that he would tell him another secret, and Jeong was a little suspicious...

And Jeong started to run using Qigong to escape, but he told Blue Spirit that it was repeating itself when he saw a certain tree, and when Blue Spirit tried to move away, he felt something was suspicious and made it look like he had a sprained ankle, and grabbed the neck of something disguised as Blue Spirit and told it to reveal its identity. As the being began to appear, Blue Spirit felt fear and told Mok Gyeongwoon that he was not an opponent to fight.
Mok Gyeongwoon, who saw its being directly, thought of the Shanhai Jing (山海经) and Shaman Sak, and thought that it was a monster and an very stronger being. Decades later, Mok Gyeongwoon is now known as Cheon Ma to the wider public of Murim. He is regarded as one of the greatest martial artists in all of Murim history as a member of the Four Great Warriors. He goes on to establish the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult along with the Guardian Families and followers interested in his power, becoming a legendary figure known as the Heavenly Demon God in the process. He pursues the path of a demon along with strength above all others. Even though his reputation is overshadowed by the other factions, Cheon Ma shakes the entire murim in any of his pursuits.
Inspired by the sword arts of Sima Chak, one of the Four Great Evils from the previous era of the Blood Demon and Jin Woonhwi, he creates the Sword Force of the Heavenly Demon, one of the greatest martial arts to ever exist. He also goes on to create the black "Heavenly Demonic Energy" which grants him absolute control and dominance over his subordinates with some of his followers even believing that he is the incarnation of the Demon God.
Eventually, he is told by a "Prophet" that an immortal will arrive to threaten the murim, including the Heavenly Demonic Cult in the future.
