Wi Soyeon is a central character of Myst, Might, Mayhem. She is the third disciple of Bi Jungseon, the Society Leader of the Heaven-Earth Society.
Appearance[]
Her appearance is exactly like Blue Spirit's but slightly younger. They are like twins. When Jeong/Mok Gyeongwoon meets her, his expression hardens in complete shock at their similarity, and Blue Spirit looks very surprised.
Personality[]
Wi Soyeon is an ambitious and determined individual who refuses to abandon her dreams despite facing uneven odds in her struggle for power. Initially, though well-intentioned, she struggles to embody true leadership. Her charisma and beauty inspire secret admiration among her subordinates, many even dream of becoming her husband and loyally serving her, similar as it was with Baek Hye-Hyang. Yet unlike her, Wi Soyeon fails to enforce ironclad discipline. Her overly lenient, almost friendly treatment of followers inadvertently encourages insubordination, allowing them to act independently and undermine her authority.
Calm down and step back. I know your heart well.—Wi Soyeon, to Gi Ok-ryeon
It takes a brutal confrontation with Mok Gyeongwoon to shatter her illusions and expose her incompetence. This pivotal moment transforms her: the once-indulgent leader becomes ruthless and uncompromising, punishing defiance without hesitation. By tightening control and imposing merciless discipline, she mirrors Baek Hye-Hyang’s iron-fisted dominance, proving that true power requires both ambition and unrelenting authority. Her metamorphosis underscores a hard truth: sometimes, blood must spill before one learns to rule.
I clearly said not to object, but you’re disrespecting me to the end. Get out. A subordinate who pledged loyalty doesn’t listen to the lord’s orders at every turn and does as he pleases. I no longer need someone like that.—Wi Soyeon, to Yeop Wi-seon
Background[]
Wi Soyeon was born into the renowned Heroic Spear Wi Family, but unlike her martial siblings, she was weak and bedridden due to a rare condition known as the Heavenly Yin Absolute Meridians—a syndrome where uncontrollable energy builds within the body. Though forbidden by her father to train, she secretly practiced martial arts, and her condition spiraled out of control.
Her father, desperate to save her, took her to the inner city using a family token, where she caught the attention of the Society Leader. Fascinated by her rare condition, he took her in as a disciple and devised a breathing technique called the Forbidden Gate Secrets to suppress the energy, prolonging her life.
However, the pain never stopped. The rampaging energy returned in shorter and shorter intervals, and with her death seemingly inevitable, Wi Soyeon resolved to make her remaining time meaningful. With no fear of death left, she set her sights on one goal: to become the Society Leader and leave behind a legacy that proved her life had worth.
Chronology[]
First meeting with Mok Gyeongwoon[]
Wi Soyeon made her way into the secret library of Blood Corpse Valley, home to countless precious martial arts manuscripts. Leveraging her status as the Third Disciple of the Society Leader, she stretched the rules just enough to gain entry, all to help one of her subordinates, Yeop Wiseon, further his training.
However, their visit took an unexpected turn when they encountered a cadet inside: Mok Gyeongwoon, who had earned his place by winning two times first rank in the Academy Trials, granting him two tokens as a reward. Blinded by arrogance and insecurity, Yeop Wiseon, tried to interfere with Mok Gyeongwoon’s realization being still in a daze from the profound knowledge within the manuscripts. Such recklessness could have led to serious injury, even death. But Mok Gyeongwoon snapped back to his senses in time. Fully aware of Yeop’s hostile intent, he fought back.
Their clash was cut short when Wi Soyeon intervened. Initially, she had written Mok Gyeongwoon off as nothing more than a cocky pretty face, all charm and no depth. But her opinion shifted the moment he outmaneuvered her, solving a problem in a way she hadn’t even noticed. His sharp mind left a strong impression. Seeing his potential, she resolved to bring him into her faction, believing he could become a future pillar of the Heaven-Earth Society.
Meeting the Annihilating Poison King[]
After the final trial in Blood Corpse Valley, it became common knowledge and a hot topic, that Mok Gyeongwoon originated from the Orthodox Faction. He had officially defected, cutting ties with his roots and swearing allegiance to the Heaven-Earth Society.
This news troubled Wi Soyeon. She had previously given him her personal token, which entitled him to demand a single favor from her. On top of that, she was uneasy about recruiting someone with ties to the Orthodox Path. However, her doubts vanished when she noticed her rival and martial sibling, Jang Neung-ak, the Second Disciple of the Society Leader, taking an interest in Mok Gyeongwoon. Recognizing his talent, Jang even expressed a desire to take him under his wing. Seeing this, Wi Soyeon realized she had to recruit Mok Gyeongwoon, especially now that he had become an official disciple of the Shadow Clan Master.
However, this matter was not her top priority, as the first birthday celebration of the Annihilating Poison King’s grandson was fast approaching. This was the perfect, perhaps even the only opportunity to persuade him to support her faction. Baek Sa Ha had been in closed-door training for a long time, refusing to leave his family estate and avoiding the outside world entirely. He was a prominent and highly respected figure within the Heaven-Earth Society, holding the prestigious title of King, and more importantly, he was the only one who had mastered poison arts to such an unparalleled level.
The problem arose the moment she arrived: Jang Neung-ak had the same idea, further intensifying the rivalry between them. Yet both were stunned to find Mok Gyeongwoon inside the Baek Family estate. Neither knew why he had been allowed entry or what his purpose was, but they didn’t dwell on it for long. Their priority remained securing an audience with the Annihilating Poison King. However, meeting him wasn’t as simple as they had expected. First, all three of them had to drink a special poison and expel it from their bodies within an hour to even be granted an audience with Baek Sa-ha. Mok Gyeongwoon, having unknowingly reached the level of Poison Master, drank the poison effortlessly and even marveled at its flavor. Among the remaining two, Wi Soyeon was the first to purge the toxin from her system, slightly outpacing Jang Neung-ak. This earned all three of them the right to speak with the Annihilating Poison King.
The meeting did not go as planned. Both Wi Soyeon and her martial sibling were outright rejected. The Annihilating Poison King had no interest in their offers or their succession games. With a mere surge of his poison’s potency, he rendered them both unconscious. When they awoke outside his chambers, they prepared to make another attempt but then, the unexpected happened. Not only had the Annihilating Poison King broken through to the Transformation Realm in that short time, granting him a rejuvenated appearance, but he proudly declared that he had officially taken Mok Gyeongwoon as his disciple. At that moment, Wi Soyeon realized one thing: she had to win Mok Gyeongwoon over at all costs. After all, he was now a disciple of both the Shadow Clan Master and the Annihilating Poison King, a position of unprecedented influence.
Stable body[]
After returning from the Baek Family estate, Wi Soyeon waited for Mok Gyeongwoon, intending to speak with him again. She sent her subordinate, Woo Ho-rang, to fetch him, but chaos erupted unexpectedly on her estate. She found her subordinates subdued and Mok Gyeongwoon standing triumphantly over them. He coldly explained that they’d tried to detain him against her orders, defying her authority.
Their confrontation escalated into a battle where Mok Gyeongwoon ruthlessly exposed her incompetence as a leader. Then, he demanded she “hand over her body” a grave misunderstanding ensued. He meant it literally: he intended to surrender her body to the Blue Spirit. But Wi Soyeon misinterpreted his words as a carnal proposition, igniting her fury. Despite knowing he outmatched her, she fought even more viciously. When Mok Gyeongwoon held back during their duel, she seethed, believing he saw her only as a woman, especially after his taunt: “If I weren’t prepared for the consequences of my actions, I wouldn’t have taken them.”. Again, she misread him, assuming he desired her so fiercely he’d risk any repercussion. This awakened long-dormant instincts within her, a primal feminine recklessness.
Releasing her lethal Yin energy, she swore that if he could remove the curse shackling her, she’d surrender herself to him without hesitation. She never expected him to succeed; even her master, Bi Jungseon - whom she’d believed invincible - had deemed it near impossible. Yet, to her shock, Mok Gyeongwoon tamed her Yin energy using his Poison Qi. Its warmth and also using Thought-Shattering Eight Techniques at the same time, allowed him to absorb the corrosive energy into his own body permanently. With her meridians finally unblocked and her energy stabilized, Wi Soyeon’s body healed. The Extreme Yin energy, now balanced, no longer threatened her life. True to her word, she yielded to him, their encounter claiming his virginity as well as her own. Unbeknownst to her, this outcome served Mok Gyeongwoon’s hidden agenda: the Blue Spirit had failed to possess her, so binding her to him became the next best way to secure her loyalty.
After these events, she formed an alliance with Jang Neung-ak against Na Yul-ryang, the First Disciple of the Society Leader - at the request of her beloved, Mok Gyeongwoon. They merged their factions, pooling their strength for the coming struggle. Yet, Wi Soyeon remained unaware of one critical truth: Jang Neung-ak himself was possessed by Go Chan.
Ritual of the Three Veins[]
After Mok Gyeongwoon departed on the secret mission assigned by the Society Leader himself, Wi Soyeon awaited his return with great impatience. In the meantime, she took to heart the lesson given to her by the future Heavenly Demon, implementing iron discipline within her faction and keeping her subordinates on a tight leash. She announced that they were to treat Mok Gyeongwoon exactly as they treated her, as their lord. Any voices of dissent or resentment were immediately suppressed by her formidable strength.
She also held councils with the other allied forces supporting Mok Gyeongwoon to finalize the crucial details of their alliance against Na Yul-ryang in the race for the throne. It was, therefore, a period of settling all necessary formalities and anxiously awaiting the return of her beloved.
After several months of silence, she finally received a report of Mok Gyeongwoon's return and his entry through the main gate of the Heaven-Earth Society. Due to the approaching Ritual of the Three Veins, which was to determine the faction's future leader, the forces directly under her command had gathered in one place.
Unexpectedly, they were ambushed by a large and mysterious group of powerful warriors. In the ensuing fierce and one-sided battle, most of her subordinates were slain, including the Sun Rock Valley Master, Gi Hae. Were it not for unexpected reinforcements in form of Ji-oe, the rest would have perished as well, including Son Yun.
However, as was later revealed after the Heavenly Demon arrived in response to a situation report delivered by Gi Ok-ryeon, Wi Soyeon had been replaced at some point by a doppelgänger, a monster in disguise. The Cheon Ma saw through the enemy's attempt to buy time, saved the mortally wounded Bright Blade King, and annihilated all of their opponents, displaying his overwhelming power and the ultimate technique of the Demon Sword Arts.
Go Chan[]
New Name[]
After the cataclysmic war against the Three Great Yokai and Mokgan, the fragmented existence of Blue Spirit (Ryu So-wol) and Wi Soyeon finally merged, their souls intertwining into a single, unbreakable entity. Their memories, emotions, and identities fused completely - no longer two conflicting wills, but one sovereign being. To symbolize this rebirth, the unified spirit chose a new name: Cheong Ryeong.
Soon after, during the grand ceremony marking the founding of the Heavenly Demon Divine Cult, the two heirs of the Moon Vein sealed their union in marriage, founding both a family and a new faction. Thus, the Moon Vein's legacy evolved into something greater - no longer a fallen clan seeking vengeance, but the undisputed rulers of the demonic path. The world would come to know them as the Cheon Family, a name that echoed across the Central Plains with equal parts reverence and terror. Under Cheong Ryeong’s matriarchy, their lineage would produce future Demon Lords and ultimately, the Second Heavenly Demon, Cheon Yeo Woon. Thus, the once-scattered fragments of vengeance and ambition crystallized into a new era, where the very mention of the Cheon bloodline would command the heavens and shake the earth for generations to come.
Martial Realm[]
Wi Soyeon is Blessed/Cursed by The Heavenly Yin Absolute Meridians.
The Heavenly Yin Absolute Meridians, known as a cursed physique with a predestined short lifespan, could yield the tremendous advantage of inexhaustible true energy regardless of cultivation if overcome, but it was no easy feat.
Because of this constitution she is bounded with extreme yin energy. Thanks to Mok Gyeongwoon's intervention she was able to overcome this curse and gain pure power from her Extreme Yin Body. That boosted her power above her martial realm.
After becoming one existence with the Blue Spirit, she gained her memories and experience becoming a Cheong-Ryeong. During her first life, Ryu Sowol was a peerless martial artist, and her insight only grew after death. As a vengeful spirit, her spiritual vision opened, and she was able to understand martial arts much better than during her life (for example she was able to finish Left Guardian Family martial arts). The Blue Spirit contemplated martial arts for more than a hundred years, visualizing previous fights and techniques in her mind. But the most valuable experience and growth was during her journey with Mok Gyeongwoon. As he grew stronger due to his own ways, she also learned new possibilities that Cheong-Ryeong probably used after her reincarnation.
The Blue Spirit gained her biggest enlightenment when she encountered Sima Chak. As a successor of the Moon Vein she already mastered Moon Sword that is based on few sword moves of Moonless Void Sword known from Absolute Sword Sense. But after Wicked Moon Sword's teachings of his ultimate version of this technique, that contains the sword movements of Sword Immortal, she was stunned.
…It’s the Moonless Void Sword.
Based on this, Cheong Ryeong likely used this knowledge and experience to regain her previous martial realm and reach an even higher level. Most likely, she started to practice Sima Chak's final version of the Moonless Void Sword. It is unknown if she started to learn Sword Force of the Heavenly Demon, but it is possible. Taking into account that how much Cheon Ma loves her, even saying that he does not want to live without her, there is a high possibility that the Heavenly Demon helped Cheong Ryeong also to ascend. This is only speculation based on Cheon Ma's character, because she is not mentioned in the epilogue of the MMM series.
She had access to the greatest creation of Jin Woon-Hwi, Thought-Shattering Eight Techniques, which helps martial artists to reach even the Life and Death realm. Also Mok Gyeongwoon could give her a portion of his Demonic Qi, which significantly boosts martial realm. Considering that this type of Qi in nature is similar to the Extreme Yin Qi that she possesses, Cheong Ryeong probably could take a purer version of it than her husband's subordinates.
